A couple of years after I created the Alignment Grid, I had an awareness that gave me a deeper understanding of the content.
These insights were sort of the bridge between theory and practical application, and they let me take everything I was already doing intuitively with my clients and lay it out for everyone to understand.
What I realized was that every square on the Alignment Grid has a unique Marketing Foundation.
Let me give you an example of a Marketing Foundation.
I’ll use Charismatic Guru (upper left square) as the example because chances are you have experienced marketing at some point from someone in that square.
(People like Tony Robbins, Lisa Sasevich and Suze Orman fall into this square.)
So, let’s go through their Marketing Foundation. Ready?
People buy from Charismatic Gurus because they “want some of what they have.”
What they are really selling is a promise.
What people want when they buy from them is for someone to tell them what to do.
Now if you think for a minute about the marketing you’ve seen from successful people in this square, doesn’t that all make sense?
They tend to make promises in their marketing, such as the titles they use for their offers. Here’s a fictitious example: “Ninety Days to a 6-figure Income” or “The Foolproof Formula for Making More Sales,” or even the real-life slogan, “Make America Great Again.”
Charismatic Gurus tend to make sure people can experience their charisma, too. Live events are often the way they prefer to market, for example. Very smart choice, and an aligned choice for them.
And since their buyers want to be told what to do, they often lay out a simple system or set of steps in their marketing, and then they attach a promise that if you follow those steps, you can have the result you want.
Sometimes they may also use lifestyle marketing — selling a vision of a perfect life — which aligns with their buyers’ wanting “some of what they have.”
So, you can see that the most successful people in this square honor this Marketing Foundation in their choices.
The question is, “Does their approach resonate with you? Would it feel like you were being yourself if you did those same things?”
It doesn’t resonate with me, but that’s because I’m not a Charismatic Guru.
I have a totally different Marketing Foundation, and if you’re not a Charismatic Guru, you do, too.
This is the material I use with my clients to help them make aligned choices. It’s the material people write me about to say, “Oh my gosh, I get it now. I get why what I was trying wasn’t working for me or what my mentor was telling me worked for them didn’t feel right to me.”
